This shoot, with three gorgeous little girls and their gorgeous Mummy, was the first in my new studio a few weeks ago. I have to say, I am loving it so far. Heaps of natural light, heaps of room, and I no longer have to rearrange my entire house when a client comes over. I even have two chairs for clients to sit on now. We’re still a little “sparsely furnished” at the moment.
The “Mummy” in this particular session is my best friend, Jill. Jill is awesome, and I feel very blessed to have her in my life. Jill, like most of my friends, was in my year in high school, and was close friends with one of my close friends. I don’t think we really got to be proper friends until school finished and we started uni. In our first year of uni, me and the aforementioned other close friend ended up crashing at Jill’s house a few nights a week, spending so much time there that we decided to get a place together the following year.
Jill and I were not good housemates. Some people can be fabulous friends, but terrible to live with. That’s me… My messiness tends to vomit throughout whichever house I’m in, which understandably, Jill didn’t appreciate. I also had a tendency to play the piano at 8am. She did put up with me for two years though. Even though we did huff at each other quite a lot during that time, we were still friends, and thankfully, when we were no longer living together, we were able to be better friends.
Since then, we have been each other’s bridesmaids, and she is my Charlie-Bear’s Godmummy. We have still had ups and downs over the years, but she is definitely one of those friends that are definitely not going anywhere any time soon.
Jill has been married to Rob for seven years now, and they’ve been a couple since our year 12 formal. So sweet. Rob has also been friends with Husband since high school, part of the same heavy metal high school band, the Golden Lance, and played on the same basketball team for a very long time. Realistically, if I hadn’t been housemates with Jill, and Rob wasn’t on the same basketball team as Husband, Husband and I probably wouldn’t have become friends and wouldn’t be married now, so I will always be thankful to Jill & Rob for that.
They now have three beautiful girls, Amber, 5, Tahlia, 3, and Millie, who is almost one. I did Millie’s newborn session at the start of this year, which is a big indicator of how quickly this year has gone, and how much has changed since then.
By the way, did I mention these girls are stunning?
