I need to do a few catch-up posts over the next few days to get up to date with what has been going on lately, so I’m starting with my newborn shoot with little Asha. I’ve been horribly sick  for over a month, with bronchitis, then a horrid cold on top of the bronchitis, and I have also cracked a rib from all of the coughing. I’m still quite sick, but I can actually sit at the computer and use my “mouse hand” now, which I couldn’t quite do last week with the cracked rib business.

The gorgeous Asha was born on 15 March, weighing in at a tiny 5 pound 4 ounces. I photographed her when she nine days old, and was still so tiny and delicate. Asha’s big sister Isla joined us for some photos too. Asha’s mummy, Alicia, is a very very old friend of mine. Alicia was in the year below me at school, and we spent a bit less than three hours together a day, catching the bus to and from our school, so we got to know each other pretty well during that time. She was like a little sister to me, but as we finished school and went different ways, we lost touch a bit. Fortunately, Facebook is a wonder for lazy communicators like me, so we’ve managed to stay in touch a little more the last few years that way. Our photo shoot was a great opportunity to catch up, and I met Asha’s Daddy, Trent, for the first time.

So here is the divine and teeny Asha. She was so tiny that she didn’t fit into any, but one, of Alicia’s headbands and beanies, and I had no chance. Now she’s a bit bigger and can fit into some beanies, we have planned a follow-up session so stay tuned for some more photos of Asha soon.
