I love love love taking photos of my friends, so I was quite excited to do a shoot with my bestie, Jill, and her family – her husband, Rob, and their two (and a half) little girls, Amber & Tahlia. Jill wanted some nice photos of the girls to make Christmas gifts (calendars and the like) for their respective parents, and I’m always willing to practice.
We picked Redhead Beach for our location, which was a risk, considering the only time I’d ever been there for was friends’ wedding reception at the surf house seven years ago, so I got there a little early to do some scouting. Such a beautiful beach, with imposing cliffs, and large rocks on the sand, sculpted by the waves.
As usual, photographing kids came with the usual challenges, particularly getting both girls to a) look at the camera; b) at the same time; and c) in the same photograph. Jill had some particular shots she wanted that we didn’t quite achieve, but we did the best we could.
I really love some of these shots, although it’s pretty hard to lose with cute kids + sunset + beach.
Note re: Amber’s noticeably missing front tooth: she fell off one of my dining room chairs about 18 months ago (I’m still slightly traumatised), and is now destined to be toothless until her adult tooth comes through. At least she is an extremely tall four year old, so she does kind of look like she has lost the tooth naturally.
So here are my two favourite princesses, and their wonderful Mummy and Daddy.
